What is DJI Mini 4

DJI Mini 4 is an ultra-compact aerial photography drone manufactured by DJI with a takeoff weight of 249g, announced on September 25, 2023 at 09:00 (EDT) and released on the same day. This is the successor model to the ultra-compact drone DJI Mini 3 released in May 2022.

Product features

The feature of this model is enhanced obstacle detection capabilities. In addition to the front-back and downward sensors of the previous model, this model is equipped with lateral and upward obstacle sensors, making it possible to detect obstacles in all directions. It also has a night mode for video shooting. Flight parameters such as climb and descent speeds have also been slightly improved. Other specifications are almost the same as DJI Mini 3 . The maximum video resolution (4K/60fps), camera sensor, and gimbal specifications are also almost the same (can shoot at 100/200FPS, but this is for slow motion). Overall, the model is close to the specs of DJI Air 3 released in July 2023, with the telephoto camera removed.

Compliance with Japanese laws and regulations

Due to the tightening of restrictions in Japan's aviation law that took effect on June 20, 2022 (targeting takeoff weights of 100g or more), there is no configuration for the lighter Japanese version. Unfortunately, the locations where you can fly without an application are severely restricted in Japan. And you will also need to register with "Drone Registration System" and use "Remote ID" feature.
