How to distribute your own MSFS add-on content on Flightsim.to

Distribute the MSFS add-on content you've created on the Flightsim.to website so that many users can use it. Here we'll explain how to upload content to Flightsim.to.
There are a number of restrictions on uploading content to Flightsim.to, including file size and number of files. There are also a few things you should prepare in advance. We recommend that you read through these steps before developing your add-on content.

What is Flightsim.to?

This is one of the websites where user-developed add-ons like mods, liveries (aircraft paintings) and scenerys for Microsoft Flight Simulator are collected. If you sign in, you can use all the basic functions for free, but if you become a paid Premium member, your download speed will be faster and ads will not be displayed.
For more information, please refer to the following page.

Instructions for uploading content to Flightsim.to

PC Open the Flightsim.to website, log in, and click on Your Account in the top right corner of the screen.
PC Then the menu shown on the right will appear. Click on "My Uploads."
PC You will see the screen shown on the right. Click the green “+ New Upload” button.
You will then be shown some important notes about uploading content. This page will only be displayed once, the first time you upload. Please read the notes carefully.
You can also read parts of this article on the following pages:
PC Next, you'll see a page like this. Simply fill in each item on this page and click the "Submit File" button at the bottom of the page to complete the upload. Let's look at each item in order.
File Title: Enter a title for your add-on content. Make it simple, clear and catchy.
Who created this?: Enter the name/pen name of the developer of the add-on content. By default, this is set to your Flightsim.to account name.
Category: Select a category for your add-on content from the drop-down menu. There are many options to choose from. Choose the one that best suits your content.
For example, if you want to create a city scenery from Google Maps, you should select "Scenery Enhancements > Cities". In this case, a choice of location (country name) will also be displayed, so select the country where the scenery is located.
PC Affiliation: Specify the name of another aircraft/product that your add-on content relates to. If you have created add-on content specifically for a specific aircraft/product, such as an airplane livery, enter it here. There is no need to enter a name for scenery, as it usually does not belong to any other add-on or product.
Coordinates: Enter the latitude and longitude on Earth where the add-on content is located, separated by a comma. The easiest way to find this is to right-click on the relevant area on Google Maps (see below).
Detailed Description: Enter a description of your add-on content. This text will be displayed exactly on the Flightsim.to download page. This should contain at least a description in English. Include detailed instructions for installation, troubleshooting, any dependencies on other content, notes, and credits.
How to find Coordinates
PC When you right-click anywhere on Google Maps, a menu like the one on the right will appear. The top line here shows the latitude and longitude of that location.
PC Search Keywords: Enter keywords that will help users search for your add-on content. However, keywords are usually included in the title and description, so you probably don't need to enter them here.
Initial Version: Enter the initial version number of the add-on content. Normally, this should match the value set in the Version field of the MSFS SDK Inspector screen when building the content. For details, see How to create a project for MSFS add-on content .
Compatibility: From the drop-down menu, select whether this add-on content is available for MSFS2024/2020. Of course, you can also select "Both."
PC Add Images and Screenshots: Upload images that explain your add-on content. Upload images that clearly illustrate the features and benefits of your add-on content, such as screenshots of MSFS or diagrams explaining how to use it. Clicking the blue [Browse files] button will open File Explorer, so you can select the files you want to upload.
  • The first image you upload will be used as the thumbnail for your content.
  • You must upload at least 5 images.
  • You can upload up to 24 images.
  • Your image must have a minimum resolution of 512x512 pixels, higher is better.
  • Your image file must be in either .jpg or .png format, with .jpg format recommended as it results in a smaller file size.
  • Each image file must be less than 2MB in size.
PC YouTube Preview: Enter the ID of a YouTube video that will introduce your add-on content. You must upload the video to YouTube and make it public in advance. This field is optional. Do not enter this if you cannot prepare a video.
Below this you will see several checkboxes depending on the category of your add-on content. If you selected "Scenery Enhancements > Cities" as the category, you will see two checkboxes:
Drag and Drop
Check this box if your add-on content can be installed simply by dragging and dropping it into the Community folder. All normal scenery add-ons should fall into this condition. Uncheck this box if the content requires the user to manually create or update configuration files or perform other installation steps.
Google Maps Import
Check this box if your add-on content includes information imported from Google Maps.
PC Upload your file(s): Now it's time to upload the actual content of your add-on. Click the blue [Browse files] button to open File Explorer and select the file you want to upload.
  • You can upload up to four files per title.
  • The file format must be either .zip or .rar. The .zip format is recommended as it can be extracted without additional tools.
  • Each file must be less than 2.5GB after compression in size.
  • The total size of all files in one title must be less than 10GB.
In the case of scenery generated from Google Maps, the texture size is reduced by Zip compression, so if it is about 4 to 5 GB before compression, it is expected to be less than 2.5 GB after compression.
Please note that the maximum upload capacity for each account (developer) is 25GB in total. If you are uploading a lot of add-on content one after another and the total is likely to exceed 25GB, you will need to consult with Flightsim.to.
You can also read about the upload conditions on the following page.
PC Once you select a file, uploading will begin. The upload is complete when the red "X" mark on the right side of each file name changes to a green check mark. Also, below the file list will be a field where you can enter a description of each file. Please enter an appropriate description.
PC Once all files have been uploaded, the "Submit File" button at the bottom of the page will be enabled. Click on it.
PC When you see the screen on the right, the upload is complete. The video you can watch on this screen will teach you how to maintain your uploaded content.
In some cases, you may have to wait for the content to be reviewed by Flightsim.to, as shown in this screen. It depends on the content, but after waiting about half a day, the review will be completed and it will be made public.
